The system is used for repair of rail straightness and waviness. The gag press operator can see the repaired rail profile plot on his monitor and the repair effect may be verified immediately after the operation, so the rail leaves the system with its final quality certificate.
Rails with the straightness defects have to be repaired - straightened on the gag press. GRAW offers also systems that can operate with gag presses. Rail profiles are displayed on the gag press operator's screen, making it possible to position the rail exactly in reference to the actual positions of the press anvils. Once the press actuator straightens the rail in some place, this part of the rail profile is marked red (see below) as no longer valid. Therefore, the operator knows what parts of the rail have already been subjected to the repair. At any time he or she is free to verify the effect of the straightening operation by measuring the rail again.
